    1. The first thing is that you should be patient about this. As your periods are irregular it is very hard to estimate when is your top fertile period, but, you can’t go wrong if you are in the opportunity to be active with your partner frequently. If you have any other difficulties besides irregular periods you should consult with your doctor.

  1. Hi. I have had two healthy pregnancies already and i’ll turn 40 end this year.
we have been trying to get pregnant since oct.2014. I’ve been pregnant twice (that i know) but they resulted in a misscarriage.
i’ve have seen a doctor and since getting pregnant is not the issue but keeping the pregnancies, i let some basic test be done. My doc says the uterus looks fine so it’s most likely that i have been misscarriaging just because of my age (chance for misscarriage 1 of 3). Now, my periods were on Dec 15, Jan 16, Feb 15, March 21.
I did track my ovulation with the doctor in April. I saw him a few times and he checked my ovaries ans recommended me to have sex with my husband from April 6 until April 9 because it looked like one of ovaries was going to release an egg. So we did have unprotected sex on Apr 6, 8 and 9.
If im not wrong it was on wednesday 15th that i took a blood sample but it came out negative.Between 22 and 25 we had sex again. I was expecting my period on April 30 but today is the 4th of May and no period yet. I really dont get it. I dont want to think about it but i do anyways and i dont want to get a domestic pregnancy test because i dont want to be dissappointed (again). What do you think?

    1. Well, in my personal opinion, I think you have done everything correct in the biological sense. It is correct that there is a bigger chance of a miscarriage when you are older and it will probably take more time to get pregnant. If you know that, then you should be more patient and have more understanding for your own body. Stress could be a big factor, because you are putting yourself in a greater emotional distress by pushing too hard for the positive results. Try to think about this as a something that doesn’t requires the competition ( with time, yourself, others…) but as of something positive, nice , beautiful. People usually forget that a creation of another human life is a true art. Try to put yourself in that sort of a mind set. Apparently you are physically completely healthy, so you should try another approach.

      1. Hi Jane…thanks a lot for your reply. I’m back with good news. I’m pregnant 🙂
I took today (11 May) a domestic test (Clearblue) and it was inmediatly positive. Now what im wondering is how far am i?. Do you have any idea? an approximate?.
My appointment with the gynea is on June 8th so i still have to wait for a while (in a way i think it’s better so)
        THANKS A BUNCH 🙂

  2. hi, I’m 24 and just got married. my last period was on 10th April, 2014 and i had sex on 13th April(still menstruating) but i took some pills because we don’t want to have a baby too soon. then on 19th and 21st April while we were on vacation, he ejaculated inside me. i have all symptoms of pregnancy and i know i’m pregnant. and my husband is thrilled. but the question is. when did i likely take in? on the 13th or 21st. ?
    thank you so much

    1. Well I think that between you two one wants a baby more, and that is your husband, which is by the way quite unfair. It would be likely the second date because the first date is too early.

    2. There’s a small possibility that you could’ve gotten pregnant while on your period but it is not likely. You could have sex towards the end of your bleeding and then actually conceive 4 or 5 days later with early ovulation but again, there’s a very small chance of that, especially if you took morning after pills. If you have a 28 day cycle, then you would be ovulating most likely between the 12th and 16th day of your menstrual cycle. In your case, this would’ve been between April 22nd and 26th. Since you had intercourse on the 19th & 21st and sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days, it is likely that if you are pregnant, you conceived on one of those days. Take a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant and be sure to see your doctor for further confirmation. If you aren’t pregnant and you’re not quite ready to have a baby, be sure to practice safe sex.

  3. Hi, i am 31 years old, we have been using the withdrawal method for the last 5 yrs,(not the safest i know) last period date 9 APR, went on vacation had intercourse between the 23rd and 28th Apr. Period was due 9-10 May still nothing, pregnancy test is negative this morning, stomach cramps feels like mensa re starting but nothing, a bit moody, lightheaded, am i just late….

  4. My last period was april 15 and i have not got my period yet that means am prego

  5. Hello I’m trying to get pregnant. My period was May 5 2015. When do you think I should take a test?

    1. If your cycle is average then you are due to have a period by next week. Assuming you had unprotected sex after your last period, I would suggest you wait to see if your next period comes and if it doesn’t you can go ahead and take a test. It’s too soon to take one now.

    2. Same here, my last period was may 5. I haven’t had my period. I used a period calculater and said I should have had it around June 2, 2015. But I have not gotten my period. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex for about 6 nights. Yes we are trying. Do you think I can be pregnant? I feel very very sick all the time and I usually do when I’m about to get my period but only for a day or too and for only a short period of time. But this sickness is all day. I feel so tired my breast are sore. I get super dizzy and everytime I eat in the morning I want to through up. I have body aches too i don’t know if that’s a sign? Everytime I get up I feel very very dizzy. And this is very unusual. Please help.

  6. I saw my menses on the 2nd of May and it lasted for 4 days. I don’t know if my menstrual cycle is 26 or 28 days. I had unprotected sex on the 17th and 18th of May but my partner didn’t ejaculate inside of me. Am I likely to take in?

    1. Hi there. You’d be due for a period between the 28th and the 30th of May and since you had unprotected sex around the time you would be ovulating, pregnancy is still possible. Even though he didn’t ejaculate inside you, his ‘pre-ejaculation’ could’ve contained sperm but it’s not likely that you are, this is just a small possibility. Best of luck.

    2. Hi, I had my last menses was June 2 just for 2 days. I had unprotected sex on the 19th and 21st of June. I don’t know if I am pregnant. Please reply to me.

  7. Hi, my Name is Khanyie, I’m 29 yrs old. I had a child in 2004 then she passed away in 2006. Now I really want a child and I went to see a gynae, he checked my uterus and it’s good. He prescribed Fertomid 50g. I hav been taking it for 3 months now. Then when I went back to him he prescribed Fertomid again; 100g to take for two months. I’m worried now, is there something else that can help me get pregnant?

    1. Hi Khanyie. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I understand you may be worrisome but i would still advise that you follow your gynecologist’s instructions. He increased your dosage which in turn increases your chances of conceiving. Fertomid is one medication used to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating due to a hormonal imbalance so it is understandable why he prescribed this for you. Whenever you are in doubt or have any concerns you should mention them to your doctor. Explain exactly how you feel and be as candid with him as possible so he can explain to you why he increased your dose and what it will do. No need to be worried, he will treat you the best way he sees fit and if you’re still uncomfortable, you can consult another gynecologist for their opinion on your status. Best of luck.

      1. Hi I am sorry to hear of your loss I too lost a child quite a while ago now. I was same as you wanted another baby and same as you seemed medical advice and was given same as yourself as the body can go into shock in several different ways ours was conceiving. May I assure you it all takes time but in the end it will go back to normal my loss was my 3rd child and I have now ended up with 6 in total 5 grandchildren and another 2 on way. So there is light at the end of this struggle good luck and all the best for the future xx

  8. Hi my name is Joyce, i had my last period on the 29th of April, and my cycle is usually 27 days. I did a blood test on 23rd, it came out negative, and i have not seen my period yet, my period is always regular. is it possible am pregnant, i had sex between the 11th and 15th.

    1. Hi Joyce. Your period would’ve been due yesterday on the 26th so it’s not too late for you to still have your period since it’s only been 24 hours. It’s ok if your period doesn’t come on the exact day of every month as long as it’s not too far off. You had intercourse 2 days before you were set to ovulate which increases your chance of pregnancy, however, your blood test results show that you are not pregnant. As a general rule, blood tests for pregnancy are more reliable than urine or home pregnancy tests but they too can be wrong if done too soon. They measure the amount of hCG in the bloodstream to determine if a woman is pregnant. Within 7 to 10 days a blood test can be done to detect the hormone as the placenta will begin releasing it almost immediately after conception. You had intercourse on the 11th (12 days before your test) which leaves enough time for the hormone to become more detectable so the blood test result is likely to be accurate.

The delay in your period could simply be caused by a slight hormone imbalance so don’t panic just yet. Wait a few more days to see if your period will come and take note of the days in your cycle from now on (which may change). If your period is more than a week late, see your doctor.

  9. I had my last period May 5 2015 to May 11 2015.
I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend from 15 – 20 May.
I’m due my period on 2 June. I have sore boobs and the odd cramp in my stomach.
    Could i be pregnant?

    1. Hi Jane. Yes, there’s a big chance you could be pregnant. Your most fertile period was May 17th to May 21st and you were sexually active on all those days except one so your chances of conceiving were high. Do not ignore our symptoms. Take a pregnancy test and even if it comes out negative, go and see your doctor so he/she can confirm your status.

  10. Hi, I saw my period for about 11 days, this is the first time I am experiencing this, 17-27 of may and am trying to conceive, I saw a doctor he gave me drugs and my period stopped, please what is my ovulation date.

    1. Hi Jessica. An 11 day period is far from normal. If the doctor gave you medication to stop your period and it returned then you need to go and see him again. Notify him of all changes and how long you’ve had your period now. With such a big change in your cycle there’s no way to effectively calculate your ovulation date because your cycle is abnormal. Please see your doctor asap!

  11. IM 30 we are ttc with my hubby. my last period on 13 and I think I ovaluated cause i brought the ovaluation stick. And now im experiencing pain nipple’s and belly cramps like something is pilling in side it comes and goes so im so wondering am i pregnant. ? Plz plz reply me

    1. Hey Bulie,
You are 25 days into your cycle and thus this could just be the normal pre-menstrual syndrome depending on how long your cycle is. If the case is so you will receive your period within the next few days. If not then it is quite advisable to take a pregnancy test, you may just be pregnant:)

  12. I had a misscarriage on 24th of march. it took some weeks for me to menstruate but my menstruation came on may 5th after i had sex almost through the month but today is 9th of june i haven’t see my period and am also feeling nausea ,tired ,dizzy. does that mean I am due

    1. Hey Nancy,
You are on the 35th day of your cycle and by now you should already have seen your menses. The fact that you had sex, I will assume unprotected sex through the month means that you may have had sex while ovulating which leads to pregnancy. Yes you may be due, however just take a pregnancy test to be sure.

    1. Hello Achu. I cannot say if there is anything wrong. I would recommend you speak to a professional.

  13. I want to know if prostinol-2 can prevent pregnancy during ovulation period?

  15. Dr I had a baby 8 months ago, on 25th of October 2014. My post-natal bleeding lasted for 55 days, normally before becoming pregnant my period last for 8 to 9 days in a cycle of 28 days, but since birth, I didn’t have any period until on 14th of June this year, and lasted for 5 days, I’m not ready to be pregnant now, and I’m breastfeeding every 2 hrs, please when is my safe period?

    1. Ovulation can be calculated by starting with the first day of the last menstrual period or by calculating 12-16 days from the next expected period. At the time of ovulation and 3 days before are the highest chances of pregnancy. Personally, I would consider a week before ovulation as a high chance of pregnancy being that sperm survive up to a week inside of you. Your best bet would be to wait until after you ovulation period or 1 week before your next cycle to be sure. Keep in mind ovulation periods fluctuate easily due to the smallest change of your diet or stress. Have you considered birth control options?

I expect to get my period this June 25 but no means at all. Is it too early to take a pregnancy test?

  17. Good evening. I menstruated on 4th of June and my cycle is 25 days, I had unprotected sex throughout but am yet to see my menstruation, does that mean I am pregnant?

    1. Hello. Your most fertile period was June 13 to June 17. If you had unprotected sex on these days then the chances of getting pregnant were higher. Your last menstrual period was due on June 29, if it has not appeared to date then you could be pregnant. Take a pregnancy test for confirmation.
