  1. I’am 21 days pregnant, I had a medical abortion on April 22, it starts bleeding, cramping, clot till may 9 and then its stop bleeding but on may 19 i had bleeding again! Is it my menstrual period or i don’t understand?? Please help!!

  2. It seems to be the bleeding that’s associated with the abortion. Your normal period will not return until 4 to 8 weeks after the procedure.

  3. I had a medical abortion 4 months ago and from that time my period became irregular and bleeding continue for more than two weeks. I also lost my premenstrual symptoms. The period just come without symptoms. I want to know if that mean I ovulate or not?

    1. Hi, Yes, you do ovulate. After abortion, the next ovulation usually occur around 2 weeks after the abortion. Regards

  5. Hi Sana. It is normal to have a little heavy and prolonged bleeding after an abortion than you normally have. Regards

  6. Hi, I had my abortion on Sept 24th 2016 and it’s now Jan 6 2017, I’m STILL on my period. It won’t go away. I was on birth control for some time but it still didn’t go away at all. In fact it gave me severe acne and headaches. So I stopped it. And my bleeding is still heavy. Please help!!

  7. Hello Ashley, sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. Considering that you had an abortion you should have had some amount of bleeding but it shouldn’t have surpassed 2 weeks. I am thinking that this continuation of bleeding is not related to the fact that you had an abortion. Please see your physician who will assess and give you the best treatment as needed.

  8. Hi
I had a surgical abortion on the 28th December 2016. I bled for over 7 days with the first four days being very light as though the water content was more. My usual days for menstruation is four days. I had an unprotected sex but took a pill for prevention of pregnancy the next day.
I have since not menstruated and am scared. Could I be pregnant again?

  9. Hi there Evelyn! Many women can get pregnant as soon as 7-10 days after the abortion. You can get pregnant even if you are still bleeding. It is most important that a reliable form of birth control is used. Regards

  10. I had an abortion july 2016. And this is march 2017. And i still have very light menstrual flow. what could be the cause

    1. Hi there Jane! I don’t think that your light menstrual flow is because of the abortion or something associated with your abortion. It might be because of some other reason. I suggest you to visit the doctor and get yourself checked. Best Regards

  11. I had an abortion in November 2016 and had my periods in December and January…. February I didn’t have my periods until now is there a possibility that I’m pregnant

    1. Hi there Pontshi very strange that you did not have a period in February, take a pregnancy test to see if you might be pregnant. All the best.

  12. I had an abortion with the pill Jan 2016, I haven’t been the same ever since. The night I took it I started to bleed it lasted about 2 weeks then it stopped. About a month later I started bleeding that lasted every day for around 4 months then it would come and go sometime come on without warning. Now my periods are painful I have little to no pain in the beginning around the 3rd or 4th day I have the worst cramps, i bleed 5-8 days. All this isn’t normal. My emotions are so erratic I’ve behaved in ways I don’t even understand. one minute I’m crying, an hour later I’m so angry I can’t control it, another hour I’m really happy. It’s completely screwed me up in so many ways, I would never recommend that pill to anyone. It’s just not normal to terminate a pregnancy this way. And it’s been the biggest downfall for me in my entire life. I had a surgical abortion years ago and after the first one or two months I was completely normal. The hormones they gave me in that abortion pill have lingered on for over a year. I just want it to stop. I went to the gyn many times and they say it’s normal. One gyn told me Its caused from too many orgasms. WTF is that even possible? I wouldn’t consider that a problem.

  13. Hi there Jessica, sorry to hear that you are experiencing all of this. I know this can be very frustrating. However has your doctor done any further tests just to ensure that this is not caused by anything else including another condition? See your doctor, explain exactly what’s going on and request some blood work. Also express to them how your life has changed and ask them what can be done for you to return to normalcy. All the best.

  14. Hi i was 9 weeks pregnant and had a abortion i use the pills i only bleed for four days and then it stop the abortion was in December and in march only i started bleeding again but it is going on for two weeks now sometimes its clear red other times is dark/ brown. Is this normal?

  15. Hi I’m Rashell I have abortion from in March and I was bleeding heavily so I get to my doctor and he give some pills now I’m in April and I don’t see any period can you help me please…

    1. Hello there Rashell, you can expect to have a period 3-6 weeks after abortion. All the best.

  16. hi I had abortion in February 4th this year after which I had severe pain and bleeding that lasted all through for more than a month and the last period was so painful and I pass clots and bleeding doesn’t seem to go away. what could be the problem?

    1. Hello Shazie, this could all be related to the fact that you had an abortion earlier, however if all these abnormalities persist then do not hesitate to see your doctor.

  17. I had an medical abortions at 6 weeks. On the 18th feb 2017. I bled and passed clots for 2 days then it turned very light for 3 days. I had my first period on the 28th march. It was fairly heavy and lasted 4 days. I have been spotting since, dark red/brown and feel pregnant still, nausea, sore breasts. Emotional. Is this normal?

    1. Hi there Sarah, many women have these complaints after having an abortion. If you still feel pregnant (though I doubt you are) take a pregnancy test just to assist in easing your mind. All the best.

  18. 2 years after an incomplete medical abortion which ended up needing an aspiration abortion, my periods are very light. They are predictable and last 4-5 days, but very liggt flow. I can’t even use tampons. Is this a sign of infertility? My husband and I want more kids. My gyn said it is fine, but I would appreciate a more detailed answer. Thanks!

    1. Hi there Lana, once your gynecologist has told you all is well then you should be fine. Your gynecologist is the best person to advise you re this so you need to trust their advise. All the best.

  19. Hi,

I had an medical abortion on March 6/17 when I was 6 weeks pregnant and it was lost after 7 days. now it’s almost 6weeks done after the procedure ,but still I haven’t got my periods is it normal.i had even tested with a kit, it has come negative.

    Thanks
    Mona

    1. Hi there Mona, periods normally return 3-6 weeks after an abortion, so give it a couple more days and all the best.

  20. Hi had an abortion on the 13 of march. everything was coming light sometimes no days at all, on the 15 of April I had cramps and heavy bleeding. is it my first period after the abortion? I’m just concerned

    1. Hello Miranda Harry, your period should return 3-6 weeks after an abortion so this might have just been you period. If you note any abnormalities going forward then see a doctor.
