  1. Hi I did an abortion with the pill and it worked cos I saw the blood that day and it stopped that day and it up to 5 or 6 days now have not seen ma period and I feel tired and headache sometimes…and a little feel of malaria not strong one..I just want to ask if I am alright

    1. Hello Nadia, once you are having unprotected sex then yes you can get period. Your regular period should have returned 3-6 weeks after your abortion so I am unsure as to what this bleeding is. See your doctor if this persistent bleeding continues.

    1. Hi there Sanay, your period should return around 3-6 weeks after an abortion, you said you had it done a month and one week ago which equates to 5 weeks, if it does not come within a week then see your doctor.

  6. Hi! I had medical abortion in last year’s end of November around the 30th. All went well and I got my normal periods after 27 days. But with every month as my periods were regular but periods flow started decreasing, it was 4 days earlier now after 5 months of abortion my period days decreased to 2 days only. I am worried ..is it just abortion after effects or should I consult a gynae?. 😐

    1. Hi there Lovely, this might happen after the first 2 months or so after abortion, however if this proceeds longer thereafter then speak to your gynecologist about this. All the best.

Bleeding after an abortion normally lasts anywhere between 1-3 weeks but this is normally dependent on how far along the pregnancy is, some women may bleed for a longer time. Also please note that a period returns 3-6 weeks after an abortion so you might be mistaking your period for the process of abortion still happening.

  13. Hey. I had a medical abortion 4 weeks ago. My first period following this started yesterday, and is super heavy with large clots & tissue (REALLY large-some are 10cm long and 5cm wide). I’m panicking about the size and amount. The flooding is making it impossible to go out as it literally pours. Do you think I need this investigated by my GP?

    1. Hi there Lena, you did not mention if you bled after the abortion. However this seems to be quite normal as many women have reported same symptoms and amounts of bleeding after an abortion and in no time they are back to normal.

  14. I got an abortion on April 11. I bled for a while and it stopped. I got my first period on Mothers Day and it only lasted for the usual amount of time. The issue I’m having is that I just got another period on June 2, not even a full 25 days after my last cycle. I have been on my period for over a week now and it normally only lasts 3-4 days. I don’t know if I should be worried or not. I think I should include the fact that I do workout at least five days a week, doing heavy cardio but I’m not sure if that has any correlation. What could be going on?

    1. Hi there Tiff, I would associate this more with the fact that you not too long has an abortion. However things will go back to normal quite soon, if this persists over the course of 2 more months then see your doctor.

    I had an abortion on June 1st. I bled for may be 10 days and it stopped. I have yet to receive another period and my breast are still sore and sometimes leak if I squeeze a little. I have taken two pregnancy test and they both were negative. I was expecting my period on the 29th and its the 13th of July. Is this normal? How long does it take for my breast to stop leaking? Thank you
